Final conferences of the SAFE and CHILDPRO research projects "Safe educational centers for all students: towards a school culture that overcomes violence"
On May 28th, Rovira i Virgili University (URV) hosted the final conference of two research projects funded by the State R+D+i Plan, addressing societal challenges. Under the title "Safe Educational Centers for All Students: Towards a School Culture that Overcomes Violence", the conference presented the main results of the SAFE project (Impact of "Bystander Intervention" for a School Culture Overcoming Gender Violence), led by Carme García Yeste, professor at URV and member of the IMSE research group, and the CHILDPRO project (It's Never Too Early to Prevent Gender Violence: Identifying and Overcoming Risk Behaviors in Children), which has had Rocío García Carrión, Ikerbasque Research Professor at the University of Deusto, as its principal investigator.

URV breaks the silence on suicide in Tarragona with a pioneering prevention program
Rovira i Virgili University (URV) has launched a pioneering program to address suicide prevention in the university context, breaking the silence on a reality that particularly affects young people between the ages of 20 and 35. Under the name "Openly, we talk about the darkest moments", the pilot project aims to identify warning signs and combat the myths surrounding suicidal behavior. The initiative, led by the Department of Pedagogy and with the collaboration of specialized entities such as Papageno, ACPS, and APSAS, includes workshops and surveys addressed to students, faculty, and administrative staff to raise awareness and provide training on how to act in potential cases of risk.

Oriol Rios, principal investigator of IMSE, invited as an expert in violence prevention by the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission
The consolidated research group IMSE - Social Impact and Education from the Faculty of Educational Sciences and Psychology (FCEP) was invited on March 20th by the Joint Research Center of the European Commission. The Joint Research Center, located in Italy and with more than 2,000 researchers, is the science and knowledge service of the European Commission that conducts research to provide independent scientific advice and support to European Union policies.

URV and Repsol promote science clubs for young people from less advantaged socio-economic backgrounds
Rovira i Virgili University (URV), in collaboration with Repsol, is launching for the fourth consecutive year the IncluSTEAM project, an initiative that promotes science clubs aimed at students from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds. The main objective is to bring STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) disciplines closer to 1st and 2nd year secondary school students who, due to their context, have fewer opportunities to develop scientific vocations.

IMSE receives the Joan Pedrerol Gallego award for social impact in research
The research group has been awarded for its social impact in overcoming social exclusion through educational success. The Joan Pedrerol Gallego Award consists of two modalities, Ex Ante and Ex Post, and it is in the latter that the work carried out by the researchers of the IMSE research group has been recognized. In fact, the IMSE group, as its name indicates: Social Impact and Education, has always strived to carry out research that improves society, meaning that it has social impact.

Participation in the BERA Conference and WERA Focal Meeting in Manchester
The IMSE research group participated in the BERA Conference and WERA Focal Meeting, jointly organized by the British Educational Research Association (BERA) and the World Education Research Association (WERA). This was a special conference as it celebrated the 50th anniversary of BERA and the 15th anniversary of WERA. In this case, we gathered and had the opportunity to engage in dialogue in Manchester with colleagues from all over the world.

IMSE researchers participate in the Round Table of the 8th International Catalan Sociology Congress.
In July, several researchers from the IMSE research group actively participated in the 8th Catalan International Congress of Sociology, organized by the Catalan Association of Sociology. The congress, held on July 13th and 14th at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Barcelona, was titled "Building Equity and Sustainable Futures".
