Final conferences of the SAFE and CHILDPRO research projects "Safe educational centers for all students: towards a school culture that overcomes violence"
On May 28th, Rovira i Virgili University (URV) hosted the final conference of two research projects funded by the State R+D+i Plan, addressing societal challenges. Under the title "Safe Educational Centers for All Students: Towards a School Culture that Overcomes Violence", the conference presented the main results of the SAFE project (Impact of "Bystander Intervention" for a School Culture Overcoming Gender Violence), led by Carme García Yeste, professor at URV and member of the IMSE research group, and the CHILDPRO project (It's Never Too Early to Prevent Gender Violence: Identifying and Overcoming Risk Behaviors in Children), which has had Rocío García Carrión, Ikerbasque Research Professor at the University of Deusto, as its principal investigator.
The conference was open to all members of the educational community, with a significant presence of faculty members. The principal investigators, along with researchers Silvia Molina and Lourdes Villardón, shared guidance and tools for creating safe and violence-free school environments, which have proven to be effective in the research conducted over three years.
Furthermore, attendees had the opportunity to hear practical experiences on the implementation of educational actions that are having an impact on the prevention and reduction of school violence, led by teachers and school management teams from various educational institutions. From a clear gender perspective throughout the conference, the steps and pathways that schools and high schools can follow to become contexts of socialization that prevent gender violence from early childhood were presented.
