IMSE researchers participate in the Round Table of the 8th International Catalan Sociology Congress.
In July, several researchers from the IMSE research group actively participated in the 8th Catalan International Congress of Sociology, organized by the Catalan Association of Sociology. The congress, held on July 13th and 14th at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Barcelona, was titled "Building Equity and Sustainable Futures".
In addition to participating in various presentations, we highlight the contribution of Mar Joanpere and Oriol Rios to the panel "Contributions of Sociology to Gender Equality".
This congress links the active construction of equity (based on understanding social inequalities and their dynamics), with respect for social and cultural diversity and biodiversity, and with the development of the best theories, research, and social practices that promote the creation of more sustainable, healthier alternatives for the future that provide more space for freedom, individual happiness, collective well-being, and democracy. In a context where the increasing accumulation of emergencies is expected, it is important to create spaces for reflection and scientific knowledge in order to apply our sociological knowledge and tools to respond to and anticipate emergencies in ways that align with building the best alternatives for the future.
