TRENDI

ABOUT TRENDI

Since the adoption of inclusive education as the primary approach to educating students with disabilities, their educational prospects have improved substantially. However, educational systems still have room to improve regarding the educational provisions offered to students with disabilities and the academic achievements they attain. The main objective of the TRENDI project is to identify the conditions for inclusive and successful educational trajectories for students with disabilities in primary and secondary education. Special attention will be paid to the transitions between primary and secondary education, as well as to post-compulsory education. The specific characteristics affecting the most common types of disabilities in the educational context will also be analysed. Furthermore, the potential role of synergies and complementarities between formal and non-formal educational contexts will be explored. The project results will enable the definition of a set of guidelines aimed at improving the educational trajectories of students with disabilities. In this regard, the various educational stakeholders (schools, administration, families) will be provided with more effective ways to promote inclusive and successful educational trajectories for students with disabilities. Children and young people with disabilities will benefit from greater educational and social inclusion, greater development of their capacities, higher academic achievements, and greater opportunities for social inclusion, ultimately resulting in a more inclusive society.
