IncluSTEAM: Impact of STEAM activities in "Science Club" format
IncluSTEAM
The project: IncluSTEAM: Impact of STEAM activities in "Science Club" format for young people from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds, at risk, or in a situation of exclusion, is based on the fundamental idea of starting different Science Clubs related to science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM).
From the MEDIS group (since 2023 IMSE, Social Impact and Education), together with the URV Divulga group, the Catalan Institute of Human Paleoecology and Social Evolution (IPHES), and funded by REPSOL, it is being promoted that ESO students and third-cycle primary school students from disadvantaged social groups, often far from science and technology, approach the field of science, evaluating the impact on their scientific vocations.
Science Clubs are a non-formal learning strategy that enhances participants' interest in science and technology, providing a platform to broaden their overall learning.
The participating centers are educational institutions located in high-vulnerability contexts and Residential Educational Action Centers, where the aim is to foster interactions between adolescents and professionals from the science field, thus bringing high-quality education closer. With the Science Club, the goal is to bring science into the everyday life of the participants, fostering a passion for science and promoting successful trajectories that will help them overcome their vulnerability.
