"Learning Space": Evidence-based academic support volunteering that delivers results

The Educational Plan of the Reus City Council, together with the consolidated IMSE (Social Impact and Education) research group from the Department of Pedagogy at the Rovira i Virgili University and the Roma Women's Association Drom Kotar Mestipen, promotes the Successful Educational Action: Extension of Learning Time, concretized in what we call: Learning Space.

This Successful Educational Action is an inclusive measure that consists of offering additional learning activities with support classes outside of school hours, promoting the improvement of linguistic competence in the Catalan language, the vehicular language in the educational system, to ensure quality education. This option provides more support to students who face greater difficulties or receive less support at home. Thanks to the additional help from adult volunteers, more opportunities are provided for the boys and girls to continue progressing academically and achieve the same level of performance as their peers.

For this reason, the Learning Space is aimed at boys and girls in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year of secondary education who want to receive support with academic tasks outside of school hours from a team of volunteers.

If you are interested in participating as a volunteer, you can send us an email at: carme.garciay@urv.cat, and we will contact you soon. All volunteers will receive a participation certificate at the end of the course.

We attach the poster so you can share this information with those who may be interested.
